					Sinkholes or dolines, as the locals call them and most karstology scientist, are the most common karst depressions, up to 100 meters wide and up to 10 meters deep. Although many look similar, their present landform is the result of various processes taking place underground and on the surface. They are most easily divided into funnel-shaped, which are more natural, and bowl-shaped, in which man has interfered more due to their suitability for agriculture. Over the centuries, man has transformed shallower dolines into gardens, fields, meadows and pastures.
