Ocizla to Mt. Poklon
The terrain is a bit more varied on the second day and runs on paved and gravel roads as well as some single trails and dirt roads. The second half of the day is more challenging, as the road leads upward. A few elements of the karst landscape are located before the Slovenian-Croatian border. The dolines near the villages of Petrinje and Črnotiče certainly warrant a short pit stop, where you can also observe the characteristic stone walls.
High karst also features karst rims, several tens of meters in height, which are tectonic in formation and fall under structural geomorphological landforms. Peak into the horizontal Spodmol Cave which is 35 m long and occasionally the site of various cultural events. You will find the Marija Snežna archaeological site near the settlement and the Koprščina hillfort with a perfectly preserved defensive embankment.
The second stage of the journey ends in the Croatian village of Poklon in northeast Istria, located in the spectacular Učka Nature Park. The Mt. Poklon hut at 922 meters above sea level offers panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea.
