Ilirska Bistrica to Sežana
The final leg of this eight-day karst adventure is the section between Ilirska Bistrica and Sežana across all types of gravel, paved, and forest trails.
The day kicks off with an uphill section and then a descent to the Reka River. Continue on through the village of Vremski Britof to the Škocjan Caves Regional Park. Škocjan Caves are a unique system of water caves that has been added to the UNESCO heritage list. Their most characteristic karst feature are pans. You can also visit the Škocjan Interpretation Center and Polygon, which focuses on contact karst.
Before closing the loop back to Sežana and concluding this incredible karst adventure, stop at a few panoramic lookouts and typical dense karst settlements with their stone churches. The road descends slightly all the way to Sežana, where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest.
