Along Mt. Snežnik to Ilirska Bistrica
The seventh day continues the journey across the hilly Slovenian Karst to Ilirska Bistrica. The road is mostly gravel with a few kilometers of dirt roads and paved roads. You can observe a number of natural karst landforms along the way with Mount Veliki Snežnik towering above.
Discover natural funnel-shaped dolines that are several tens of meters deep between the settlements of Sviščaki and Mašun. The Grda draga depression also warrants a visit, which is one the most beautiful and prominent glaciokarstic hollows, the Sviščaki depression, as well as the stone table and Dušan’s Rock to the north of Sviščaki.
The adventurous cyclist will undoubtedly enjoy the sweeping views stretching across the grassy Volovja reber Ridge as you cycle right below its highest points (we recommend a short detour and a quick hike to its tallest peak Velike Milanje).
