Interpretation center
The Stara torklja interpretation center, known locally as “Stari toš”, was established in Punat on the Island of Krk as part of the KRASn`KRŠ project as a museum exhibition of coastal karst and a polygon of coastal karst. The exhibition presents the geological, pedological, and climatological features of coastal karst on Krk. It explains how the cultural heritage is interwoven with the natural conditions of this stony mosaic karst landscape, in which olive tree cultivation is one of the main traditional agricultural activities. The central theme is the presentation of traditional olive oil production and its connection to the karst landscape and the coastal type of karst.
