POINTS OF INTEREST: Risnjak National Park, Platak Plateau, Mt. Snežnik, Grda draga karst depression
Across Risnjak and around Mt. Snežnik is a three-day cycling tour where you can discover the karst landscape on both the Slovenian as well as the Croatian sides of the border. The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the wild Risnjak National Park and crossing the vast forests around the dominant Mt. Veliki Snežnik. The start in Ilirska Bistrica is followed by an ascent onto the karst plateau Platak. There, the road turns back into Slovenia, where you can stop in the settlement of Stari trg pri Ložu. The mostly gravel roads will lead you through the ups and downs of the foothills of Mt. Snežnik back to the starting point in Ilirska Bistrica.
