Cycling on a moonlike landscape
While the leisurely loop between Punat and the town of Krk is perfect for less experienced cyclists and families, this one-day cycling route between Punat and Baška over the Moon Plateau will satisfy even the most serious mountain biking enthusiasts.,
This adventure begins by cycling on a paved road from Punat in the direction of the town of Vrbnik. After about seven kilometers, a relatively steep ascent on a gravel road leads to the plateau under the peak of Mali Hlam. From here, a challenging, but extremely scenic trail leads along single trails further uphill and then rewards the effort with a pleasant descent in the direction of the road Punat-Baška.
Before reaching it, turn left onto the paved road and head back up to the Moon Plateau to enjoy a long, panoramic, and truly spectacular cycling experience. The cherry on top is the single trail descent to the Church of St. John and all the way downward to Baška. The coastal trail runs past the settlement of Draga Bašćanska, then continues on the main paved road in the direction of Punat all the way to the pass; then, challenge yourself to another steep ascent to just below the summit of Veli Vrh.
From here, a fun, but challenging descent leads to the starting point back to Punat. This route will thrill anyone who enjoys rocky, technically demanding trails.
