From Divača along the foot of Mt. Vremščica to Senožeče and back
This challenging, but extremely picturesque one-day cycling tour first runs through Škocjan Caves Regional Park and the village of Rodik, then starts the ascent into the Brkini Hills. The highest point is the village of Artviže, then the route leads back down to the Reka River Valley. The northern section of the trail leads along the foot of Mr. Vremščica and through Senožeče and Laže towards Dolenja vas, which is well-known for its defense tower.
The starting point of the circular cycling trail is Divača; from there, side roads pass the settlement of Dolnje Ležeče, then well-maintained trails (paved with stone in places) lead to Matavun or Škocjan Caves. A local road leads through the settlements of Dane and Kačiče–Pared to the village of Rodik into the neighboring Municipality of Hrpelje-Kozina. A pleasant forest trail leads to the top of Brkini Hills.
Next is a wonderful descent on a paved road past the settlements of Misliče and Vareje to Barka, into Vreme Valley. The road leads through the settlements of Škoflje and Famlje northward on the old road through Gabrk at the foot of Mt. Vremščica to Senožeče. Find the side road leading to the village of Laže and continue on to the peak of Goli vrh, which offers sweeping views of the Vipava Valley. The old road leads through forests to Dolenja vas. The road along the highway leads away from the Senožeško podolje lowland and along Mt. Čebulovica back to the starting point in Divača.
